If you want to scale don’t forget about this detail.
Data capture.
Think about it, you start small and build processes around how YOU do things, then the team starts to grow and you train others on the current processes but the problem is when the training has been delegated the minor details get lost and things take way longer than they should.
For example, a new client comes in and onboarding needs to start. When it was just you, you knew what info you needed to make it a smooth process for the client and to get everything in place so everything just worked.
Now, only some of the info is given and maybe finance need more info, and operations are missing bits to properly setup them up and what was promised to the customer of a smooth product deployment becomes a back and forth as the relevant info is asked as each team realise what’s still needed.
This is just the short term effect of poor data capture. The long term is when you go to move to a new piece of software made for simplifying this process, all the data is in emails, or tables, or excels where they’ve entered dates and text in one cell and what could have been a smooth move to a proper database now requires a huge data cleanup because that’s what the new system needs.
The solution? Combining MS Lists, MS Forms and MS PowerApps
Send a Form to the customer that captures all their required data, Lists stores the data in the right format and PowerApps gives each team access only to what they need to on board:
- faster
- more accurately
- while keeping everyone happy because they can just get on with what they need to.
All this combined leads to a happy customer who maybe had the smoothest onboarding they’ve ever experienced and they’ll want to tell others about it as well.
