Why do you need backups?

There are 2 main reasons:

  1. Accidents. You could have many people on your team all with access to the data, all with the power to modify file, including deleting. Microsoft and Google are, at their core, platforms for you to manage your data, they are quite clear the responsibility lays with the owner, you. 
    With so many people having access to your data, something could be deleted by accident, the wrong things gets deleted (did you know pressing Ctrl + delete on your keyboard bypasses the recycle bin making it even harder to restore), maybe no one notices and then the retention time expires and that’s that file gone forever.
  2. Malicious intent. This normally could be unauthorised access or it could be a recently let go employee who did have access revoked when they should have. With malicious intent, what they normally do is copy your data to there systems and then delete your data and hold it to ransom til you pay, but since you paid once, why would you not pay again. 
    Backing up your data to an external source gives you the power to restore when and where you need to. Someone taken control of your M365 tenant? Move to a new one. Files been deleted get yesterdays copy backup within the hour.

    Backups are insurance, but only if done right, syncing the files from the cloud provider (Microsoft or Google) to your workstation is not a backup.

We copy your data to a third party and make the first 2 weeks worth immutable. This means they are protected from deletion, modifying and even encryption so all you can do from an immutable backup is restore the data.

How do we get backups setup for you?

We’ll need someone who has access with global administrator permissions to get backups setup – we will only have access with someone from your organisation.

Once we know of someone with the appropriate account/permissions we’ll get a call setup with them and can either control their machine to setup the backup, or share our screen with what we’re doing so that you’re aware of each step we’re performing.

Once setup, we’ll leave it 24 hours to run all the backups and check there were no issues. 

Then from there backups will run every day, we’ll restore files once a month and you’ll have peace of mind that you can get up and running if something unexpected came up.

Prices

Backup can be provided for both Microsoft 365 tenants and Google Workspaces.

We charge £5 per licensed user per month.
This means if you have a shared mailbox that a number of employees have access to it is free.
